2026 Inaugural Sunroom mural by Almendra Trevino
I wanted to tell you how much this mural has meant to me. It’s the most meaningful and special mural I’ve ever painted. I enjoyed every moment, from the beginning to the very last line. As I mentioned before, the Ladies Baths is a very special place. It felt like home for those two weeks, and I’ll have those memories in my heart forever.
I hope the swimmers enjoy the mural every day for many months to come. Thank you, the committee and all the lovely swimmers for giving me this incredible opportunity. I’ll never forget it.
The mural is about our connection with nature and the idea that we’re not separate from it — we’re part of the same living ecosystem. The womancormorant represents the generations of women who come to McIver’s to swim, rest and connect with the ocean, while the young bird represents future generations. Everything flows and interacts together — the women, birds, octopus, fish, rocks and sea — as one interconnected world.
The Randwick & Coogee Ladies Swimming Association would like to acknowledge Randwick City Council in making this project possible through their Community Creative Investment Program.
